As we read the psalms, we find the author(s) would use his words to express his feeling to the
Lord. He cried out to the Lord, blessed the Lord, sang to the Lord and prayed to the Lord. Psalm
18. 3 and 18.46 say “I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised…, (t)he LORD lives, and
blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation—.” David purposed to be one who
used his words to exalt His God. Proverbs shows us the staggering power in our words by
saying, “death and life are in the power of the tongue (Prov. 18.21). Later, James reveals the
normal course for most is to allow both blessings and cursings to flow from their words, and then
adds that it shouldn’t be that way (Jam. 3.9-10). As we contemplate Psalm 18.3 & 18.46 lets allow
the consistent expression of our mouth be that which is profitable and God honoring.
